![]() ![]() music.
![]() "music is the glue of the world mark. without it, life would be meaningless."
--eddie. empire records.
they might be giants is a band that consists of two members. two men to be exact. accordian and vocals. they have a very new orleans, mardi gras, humorous type of sound. now, i'm going to be blunt here, most of their music sucks. so, you may ask, why are you talking about them on your site then? i would like to introduce you to a song called PUT YOUR HAND INSIDE THE PUPPETHEAD. this may, indeed, be their only good song, but when you add that to their uniqueness [is that a word?] it all adds up. sample lyrics.
![]() sponge, oh how i love thee. sponge is the greatest. they're songs LIVE HERE WITHOUT YOU, DON'T ASK WHY, and PLOWED kick some serious booty. they kind of remind me of bush, with a less mechanical, harsh sound. so why don't they play them on the radio? don't ask me. some dummy dj's out there haven't discovered how wonderful they are. but some day i'll be a dj [on the side of course, i'll be very busy with my advertising company and job as a film director] and i'll make sure i play those songs all the time, because sponge isn't dead i tell you, they still rock, i don't care what you think.
bush. need i say more? personally i like their older stuff better. not that i dont like bush's new cd, just the older is classic. sixteen stone is, i believe their most successful creation. MACHINEHEAD, probably being their best song. GLYCERINE, EVERYTHING ZEN, and COME DOWN are great too. their new cd has a much more mechanical sound. i don't really care for THE CHEMICALS BETWEEN US. i dont even know if thats the name of the song. but whatever. i'm still waiting to see them in concert.
![]() eve 6. i'm actually stretching my music style putting them in my gallery, but i really like their new song, PROMISE. i saw them at edgefest last year, and they weren't exactly the main attraction, if you catch my drift. all the same, they're fun.
![]() ![]() max collins. lead singer.
fuel. although i am still waiting to hear more from this band, my thirst for fuel is still quenched with SUNBURN. it seems like that cd has been out forever and i never get tired of it. the lead singer has a very hot voice. BITTERSWEET is their best song. #2 on the cd. #1 on their best song list. they really have one of those. i've seen it.
![]() ![]() nine inch nails. i always was one of those judgemental kind of people when it came to music. someone would ask me, "do you like nine inch nails?" and i would say, "no. i don't like that heavy, scary, every other words a cuss word, every other songs about death, kinda music" i would say this, when really i had never even heard any music by them. so then, like two years later, after the big rave on DOWNWARD SPIRAL was over i heard WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER NOW on the radio. it was so different sounding. it reminded me a little bit of system of a down. but better. much much better. after that, i bought the fragility cd only to fall in love with it. trent reznor [lead singer] played piano for like nine years or something, and he incorporates a lot of his talent into his music. i love it. just a little while ago i heard HURT. its a great song. he barely sings, and the music barely plays, but it makes me feel a lot of things. and i think that's how you can tell when i song is good. some of the best songs: WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER NOW, HURT, THE DAY THE WORLD WENT AWAY, THE GREAT BELOW, and INTO THE VOID. good lyrics.
![]() sneaker pimps. they use a lot of orchestra, which i think adds a lot to the song. their music has a very unique, artsy sound. i think within every song some sort of orchestra or computer generated sound is used. which makes the music more interesting. they would fall into the same category as bjorke, without the hungarian accent. or wherever she's from. sneaker pimps are british. yah rah! BRITS!! good songs: HALF LIFE, LIGHTNING FEILD, CURL, LOW FIVE, and SUPERBUG. good lyrics.
![]() gus gus. another techo british band. i think they're british? oh well. i'm not even sure a lot of the names of the songs that they sing. you see, i had graham [www.iroxz.com] burn some songs for me, and i dont know a lot of the names. although i do know the best one...BARRY. it's a wonderful song, except for the beggining. like the first minute and a half, and for a techno song that isn't very long. but once you get into the chorus it's got this upbeat catchy tune. so if you've never listened to gus gus before, you should definetly check them out.
![]() skunk anansie. skin, the bisexual, african american, bald lead singer sings a lot about racism in her songs. its quite inspiring. even for a white girl. their best songs are CHARLIE BIG POTATO, and HEDOISM. neither of which are about racism, but are good. HEDOISM is kind of a typical slow, pretty type song. CHARLIE BIG POTATO has a lot of heavy, orchastrated [not a word, i'm on a roll today. LITERALLY!!] sound. very contrasted at times, interesting and fun to sing along too.
![]() counting crows. i think the lead singer's jamaican. yeah. i say that about anybody with dreadlocks. he has a really unique voice. you can tell a counting crows song from a mile away. MR. JONES, ANA BEGINS.
![]() dave matthews. this would be a fabulous band to see at some nightclub. dave matthews always wears those pajama pants. i think that's cool. at woodstock i think a bunch of people boo'ed them off the stage. or maybe i just heard that. either way, if you were one of them people booing i just wanted to make it clear, that you're going to hell. ANTS MARCHING, CRASH, #41.
![]() depeche mode. this is a really old band. they've been around since the seventies i believe, so they know their stuff. i like their cd "ultra" because in a lot of songs they use an orchestra. [if you can't tell by now, i like that.] anyway, you should check out their song HOME, it's intriguingly hard to stop listening to.
![]() greenday. this is a fun band. all of their videos are really cool, and i think they have a great style. are they grunge? i'm not sure. i didn't think so. oh wait, they're punk. never mind. you know, if i got to pick i would say they're three quarters punk, and one quarter grunge. yep...dats just what i say.
![]() fiona apple. you know, if i could be anybody for a day, i'd pick her. she's gorgeous, she's famous, and she's rich. who could ask for anything more. she has some really cool lyrics too. you know, i'm starting to realize that i'm saying the same things about all of these people. so i'm not creative. kill me.
![]() tom waits. this guy is like 50 and he has a permanent frog in his throat. the first time i heard him was in my 8th grade english class. our teacher turned on his music while we were supposed to be writing in our journals and i couldn't stop laughing. it was just so funny to me. i mean, here was this guy, desperately attempting to sing, when really it sounds like he's trying to summond his fellow frogs. so of course i go out and buy his cd. but now it doesnt strike me as all that funny anymore. now i just like to listen to it because it's interesting. the guy sings about bones a lot, and he's kind of redundant. i wrote one of his lyrics on my backpack and i got quite a lot of heads turned my way. STICK A SPOON IN THE WALL, WE'LL SLAUGHTER THEM ALL, NOVEMBER. write that on some of your possesions, and i swear you'll never hear the end of it.
![]() joydrop. the lead singer's a woman. i like that. one of her better songs BEAUTIFUL i feel i can really relate to. i like to listen to it when i'm angry. also i like their song SPIDERS.
![]() limp bizkit. you know what i get damn sick of hearing about? how badly fred durst sold out. okay, so the guy likes money, he can still make music. that really gets on my nerves when people obsess over the singers rather than their product. everyone in show biz sells out. it's inevitable when they do it. because at some point or another they all fall victims. and you know what i love about fred durst? he loves his parents. he prays before all of his shows and he's real into god. well, about as into god as someone like him could be. i really respect that. as bad of an image has he might set for youngins i still feel like he's not all macho and conceited. so there. oh, and i really like song number 8 on the album "significant other." dont know the name of it.
![]() rent. this is a musical. i saw it last november or so, and i loved it. i loved it a year and a half before i saw it. i bought the cd [heard of it through a friend] and hated the music. but i kept on listening and sooner or later it was just the greatest thing in the world. there was so much emotion wrapped up in one little song, it was impossible to explain. so then i saw the play itself. it makes me really determined to be on broadway. i can't really sing though. but hey! who can?
